It was founded by Biju Mathew, Ashhar Farhan, Elahe Hiptoola and Humera Ahmed. It is a non-sectarian space where new generation of thinkers and activists communicate and grow. Lamakaan started hosting events from March 2010. You will witness plays, exhibitions and many other events, all at one place. It also has a small self-service canteen which has a good variety of food and beverages. The canteen staff every day display the menu on a white board depending on what all is available in kitchen on that particular day. Samosas of Lamakaan are very much popular.
