Lotus Pond is a small and modest water body located in Banjara hills, Hyderabad. The pond has a lush green flora and a 1.2 kilometer path. It is the home for more than 20 species of birds. Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) maintains the pond. The Lotus Pond was conceived to be an Eco-conservation project bringing natural elements into the concept of the project without disturbing the ecosystem and conserving the natural rocks and pond.
On 20th November 1999, the construction of the project was launched. And the work has been completed in the year 2001.Common coot, Common moorhen, little egret, little grebe, pied kingfisher, sunbirds and white wagtail are some of the birds in the pond.
A wonderful bird park, with path all around the lake. It’s a perfect place to visit with the family and the loved ones too. One of the attractions of the Lotus Pond is the different varieties of fishes in it, which can be easily catched by anyone. It acts as an ideal place for photography to have their best clicks for photography enthusiasts. It is being in the centre of the city is famous for its naturality and has become one of the tourist place of Hyderabad.
