Nizamsagar Dam

Nizamsagar Dam was constructed by the Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan in the year of 1923. It is located in Nizamabad district and is about 144 kilometres from Hyderabad. The water under this reservoir is supplied for the people of Hyderabad for drinking purpose.

Nizamsagar Dam was constructed over the Manjira River, the subsidiary of Godavari River. Around 40 villages are made empty for the construction of the dam. It is a big dam ranging three kilometres starting from Baniapalle to Achampet village and the road on the dam is 14 feet wide. It took almost 8 years for the construction of the dam by storing 58 TMC of water and keeping in mind to serve 275000 acres of land for irrigation and agricultural purpose.

Nizamsagar Dam is itself a major tourist attraction because of its natural beauty and the green lands in the surroundings of the dam attracting lot of visitors and tourists to this place. There are all facilities near this dam for having a stay and for enjoying too. It has become the one of the popular tourist places of Hyderabad.
